St Elizabeth the New Martyr Orthodox Church is a mission parish of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia (ROCOR) under the spiritual direction of His Eminence, Metropolitan HILARION of Eastern America and New York and First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The church is located in West Columbia, South Carolina, which is five minutes west of downtown Columbia.
We are a church for all who are searching for the anchor of a Christian community in our rootless society. Above all, we are a Eucharistic community worshipping the Holy Trinity in spirit and truth as we seek to know God, to be conformed to Christ’s example of true humanity, and to lead a life “filled with all the fullness of God.”
We warmly welcome all who are searching for a church that is in unchanging continuity with the Church of the Apostles and where they may find the purity of the Apostolic Faith. Come and worship with us in the fullness of Orthodoxy!
- Archpriest Mark T. Mancuso and the Parish Council of St. Elizabeth the New Martyr
With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, ruling bishop of the Diocese of New York and Eastern America, we will have our Annual Parish Meeting on Sunday, September 28 at 12:30pm in St John’s parish hall. Everyone is strongly encouraged to attend and participate. The Parish Council and Clergy have worked hard this year in support of the parish, so please honor their efforts by your attendance.
On Saturday, August 16, 2014, the parish installed a beautiful cupola and cross atop the church. The cupola and cross are the in the traditional Russian style with the cupola being in the so-called “onion” style with the cross being the traditional Orthodox three-bared cross. The cupola is blue adorned with gold leafed stars and the cross is in a gold finish. Many thanks go out to Deacon Columba, Subdeacon Antonius Baird, and Paul Witt for their efforts as they all spent most of that Saturday on the roof of the church. And God bless all the donors who gave to this wonderful project as, without them, this would not have been possible! Also, I might add, that however wonderful the pictures seem, they pale in comparison to seeing it in person. It's a great witness in our community.
